This school was started in 1864 and this land is owned by a gentleman named Obeysekara. This school was founded by Baptist missionary and the first principal was a gentleman named Martin. This was named Baptist junior college at that time.  The school had not a permanent building and a man named Weerasekara, a resident of Mahara Nugegoda, built a hut for the school Initially there were two teachers and 25 students. The school was directed by parice council According to it this school has run on a religious  environment Also, this has been run as a private school and this is the oldest school in this area. This junior college was taken over by the government in 1962. After that, a principal was appointed by the government. Several principals have served before this was taken over by the government. After the year 1982, the principal S.Piyathissa appointed the name of the school as Vidyaloka Vidyalaya. The two storied buildings of the school were also the result of his hard work. Moreover, increasing the physical resources and increasing the number of students in the school to 1000 is due to his skill. It is clear that the development of the school has become stable stage during his time .
